Gary Millard, CEO of Wooden Thumb, Inc. currently a resident of Oak Creek, Wisconsin with his wife Kelly, who is the Administrator for Wooden Thumb as well as his two stepsons, Zachary and Jacob. He is very proud of his two adult children, Chad, who is the Project Manager at Wooden Thumb and Holly, who is currently in law enforcement.
In the late 1970's, after buying a home, and unable to find a contractor that could "do all the remodeling" for him, Gary decided to start Wooden Thumb Inc. Gary is the sole owner of Wooden Thumb Inc. and after years of refinement and 30+ years behind him in this field, he has accomplished just that, a remodeling company that can "do it all".
Gary is currently the Vice Chairman of the Remodeling Council of the Metropolitan Builders Association. He is a Nationally Certified Remodeler (CR) and a Nationally Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeler (CKBR). During the NARI Wisconsin Remodeler's Award ceremony in January of 2007, Gary was presented with an award for attaining the highest score on an 8 hour exam for his class, for the Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeler designation. The award presented was the WRA "Super Star" award.
Gary also sits on the MATC (Milwaukee Area Technical College) advisory board for Carpenters and Cabinetmakers. Gary's education includes advanced training in CAD (Computer Aided Design) 3D Modeling and Design, in addition to the NARI (National Association of Remodeling Industry) continuing education. Gary has attained the status designation of CCP (Certified Contractor Professional) through the MBA (Metropolitan Builders Association). Gary is also trained by MBA in Construction Mediation and Arbitration and sits on the CAB (Construction Arbitration Board) for MBA. Gary also has had advanced training in computer applications and technologies, including web page design and 3D cad applications/rendering. Last but equally as important is Gary's certification as a Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS). CAPS certified means that Gary has undertaken the training to advance his knowledge to assist those people that prefer to stay in there home longer, (Age in Place). Meaning, designing/RE-designing the existing home to accommodate aging limitations such as arthritis or other physical restrictions and/or impairments that with out modification to the existing home, would limit an individual from remaining in their home.
Gary has personally designed and built many projects, from extravagant kitchens and bathrooms to Additions, Lower Levels and complete Custom Homes. He enjoys his career and besides being an accomplished artist could not think of any other profession that would be as rewarding.
It is Gary's personal ambition to work with you and make the remodeling experience as informative, enjoyable, and exciting as you could possibly imagine. “Many projects we design and build are life and life style altering. At Wooden Thumb, we want to take your excitement for your project and work with you to bring it to life while keeping your mind and spirit intact!”
