Project Estimate Fees
Due to the inherent challenges and varying
complexities associated with any remodeling project,
our ESTIMATE fees are accordingly valued.
FREE ESTIMATES-Wouldn't that be Nice... Sorry we are professionals and would hope that by contacting us for an estimate, you understand that and value the knowledge we have. With that in mind (and with the ever increasing cost of fuel) we do charge a nominal site fee (normally between $25 and $75) depending on the round trip distance from our showroom.
Wooden Thumb will gladly provide VERBAL estimates for most remodeling projects
such as window replacement, rec. rooms, bathroom, etc. Extensive remodel estimates will usually be completed within a week
We can also provide "BUDGETARY / BALLPARK" estimates
for larger projects such as kitchen remodels, additions
and custom homes without all of the actual construction
drawings. Firm price estimates for these projects can
be provided once the design has been finalized and all
material selections have been made.
CHARGEABLE ESTIMATES:
1. General/Architectural Design
Fees
Projects requiring architectural drawings or floor plans,
such as additions, rec. rooms, custom homes, etc., are
billed at $150/hr. These costs can be rolled directly
into the overall cost of the project, or can be contracted
for separately. If this service is desired, a Wooden Thumb Inc. representative
will make a site visit to your home and take the necessary
dimensions and site review. At that time, a Design Agreement
is executed between the parties and the computer aided
design will commence. The amount of design effort is
determined by the Customer (i.e. conceptual views, floor
plans, detailed construction drawings, etc.) with charges
made accordingly.
2. Kitchen Design Fees
Kitchen design fees are based on the amount of effort
necessary by the Kitchen designer to provide a firm
priced estimate. In order to minimize this effort and
therefore the estimate cost, we have developed the
following protocol:
STEP #1 - IN STORE CONSULTATION
(FREE)
An appointment is scheduled with one of our kitchen designers
at the showroom, where you can see all of the cabinet
displays, features, door styles, wood species, stains,
finishes, hardware, lighting, and various countertop
materials available. At this stage, we can begin to
understand the scope of the project and find out ways
we can assist, from a simple cabinet replacement to
knocking out walls, replacing windows, or building
an addition.
STEP #2 - INITIATION OF DRAWINGS
A design fee will be charged for floor plan, elevations or perspective views.
Normally 50% of any Design fees are credited back to the cost of your
order when cabinetry is ordered through Wooden Thumb,
Inc.
There are two different types of design
fees:
1. One consists of developing the scope
and goals of the project and assisting the client in
personalized kitchen planning. This includes: obtaining
accurate field measurements, studying traffic patterns,
surveying structural considerations and consultation
regarding the project. A floor plan will be developed
that will show work triangle, cabinetry layout, appliances,
traffic patterns, seating areas, and other functional
aspects of the area. Two sets of perspective drawings
(computer renderings) are included.
2. The second consists of an estimate based
on complete set of drawings provided by customer. Drawings
must include: floor plan, elevations, specifications,
renderings, cabinet dimensions, wood species, stains
and finishes, moldings, appliance sized and list of all
cabinetry extras. A proposal will be developed using
cabinetry layout provided.
STEP #3 - CABINET ORDER
Upon completion of drawings, an appointment is scheduled
to review the drawings and estimate. A down payment
of 50% of the cabinet order is required to process
cabinet order. The final 50% will be made prior to
cabinet delivery.
