The kitchen is lovely! I moved around some things and now I have to remind myself where I placed the silverware and other things. That's OK. We love the kitchen, it is "so much better" than what we had before.

We are sorry it has taken this long to get this letter off to you (it's been three weeks, after all, since the last contractor was in the house putting the final touches on the kitchen!!), but it never is to late to extend one's thanks when those thanks are so well deserved (we hope you'll agree with us on this point).

Sometimes it is difficult to remember what our kitchen looked like before your crew arrived in January, and began dismantling the kitchen with which we lived for the past 17 years. We've gone as far as to pull out photos to remind us of how ugly and dysfunctional the kitchen was! Wooden Thumb's design transformed what once was an eyesore into a room of style and beauty-one in which we now enjoy being in and using!

Everyone who walked through the door of our home was professional and a pleasure to have in our home. That goes for your crew of talented carpenters - they were absolutely phenomenal! - to the subcontractors (electricians, plumbers, floor installers, tilers, countertop installers and cabinet repair person ... did we forget anyone? We hope not. If we did we apologize). They all worked diligently, went that "extra mile". The small touches that were added here and there helped give us the kitchen we always dreamed we've have someday. We also appreciate the fact that you took our change order in stride so we indeed could have the kitchen of our dreams!

Tom, thank you some much for keeping the job running smoothly, for answering all our questions and for keeping us informed on a regular basis of what to expect on the job. We really appreciated that, and it allowed us to keep living our lives as smoothly as possible during the chaos that usually results during a major renovation.

It was a pleasure working with everyone connected with Wooden Thumb. Again, thank you (you'll be hearing from us when we're ready to tackle our next project!).

Dear Wooden Thumb Inc.:

Your "Point the Way" evaluation card reminded me that I have yet to send this letter of thanks for all the wonderful work Wooden Thumb did to create our new kitchen space. Mark and I were extremely pleased with the entire process it took to make our kitchen the favorite room in our house.

We have had three gatherings at our home since the completion of the kitchen and we have received so many wonderful comments on the new room, it would be hard to count them all. We have had friends ask who did the work and have given them your names, address and web site information. We hope you hear from them!

From the initial meeting with Kevin and Gwen we knew we were in good hands. The concept drawings that Gwen came up with, along with her great suggestions, really started to make the room we wanted a reality. I especially liked having Gwen to go to for her professional ideas on the details of the room that have made the kitchen uniquely ours.

I can't thank Jeff enough for all his work in keeping the project moving. He was always available when I had a question or wanted to know where we were in the process. It meant a great deal to me when phone calls where immediately returned and when he would come out to the house to take care of something that popped up or when I wasn't available to meet someone here.

Your crews that did all the hard work and then cleaned up each day before leaving were wonderful to have in the house. They were very pleasant and likeable and didn't mind our pest of a cat, Baby, keeping them company at lunchtime. The time they took on the finishing work and wanting to make sure everything was perfect showed just how important it was to them that everything be done right. Even when we needed some minor adjustments to certain things, someone was at the house bright and early the following morning. I cannot tell you how much that meant to us.

So thanks again for all your insight, hard work and the attention you gave us during this big event in our home. We are so very pleased to have worked with you!

We wanted to let you know how much we appreciate our new kitchen and the ease in which it happened. Remodeling was a daunting idea for us due to cost and the pain of not having a kitchen for some time. However, the communication with your staff, especially Jeff, made the process livable and understandable to us. With all the work that was completed (new cabinets, tile floor/backsplashes, and counters), we were amazed that it looked exactly as the plans did. Stephanie and your ideas prior to the project helped us develop a plan that had features we would not have thought on our own. We've had other projects completed in our home and it always seems that for some reason, the end results differ somewhat from the original plan. Not the case with Wooden Thumb, everything was exact, if not better than I had originally envisioned.

The crew that worked on the house was also exceptional. Each day, whoever had been working took time to explain to us what had happened and what was going to happen the following day. They were all professional and able to explain the process to someone who is mechanically challenged, like myself. Having Jeff's cell number also helped ease any anxiety we had about having such drastic work done to our home. He always answered my questions in a timely (and patient) manner. Even after the kitchen was complete, the aftercare from Jeff and others at Wooden Thumb was impressive and thorough.

At the onset, cost was a factor that weighed heavily on us. Looking at the kitchen now, we see it as a sound investment knowing things were done correctly with quality materials and workmanship. Buyer's remorse faded as we began using the kitchen and even as your crew worked so carefully to complete the project. Remodeling the kitchen brightened the whole house in our opinion.

Thanks again to you, Stephanie, Jeff, Christian, Tom and the others that worked directly on our kitchen. In the future, please feel free to use us as a referral or to use the before and after pictures from our kitchen in any way.

I have been soooo enjoying my new kitchen. It's such a pleasure to have everything in working order, so convenient AND looking so spectacular. I've really gotten a lot of compliments on it. It seems like the two features that everyone likes the most are the lighted cabinets above the peninsula and the "granite" countertops. People cannot believe it when I tell them that the material isn't granite, but Zodiaq.

When I purchased my Milwaukee condominium last November, I immediately began the process of gutting the kitchen and starting over. ProSource Flooring initially recommended Wooden Thumb, and I met with Patti Strop on my first visit there. She convinced me to do business with you. She was pleasant and knowledgeable, listened to me, and quickly made suggestions that were in line with my vision of a new kitchen. She promised quick action and delivered. I appreciated her expertise, enthusiasm, positive outlook, and energy. When she said she'd have plans ready, she did. When she said she'd call me, she did. And she helped me to come up with a plan that is perfect for the space.

Patti has just been a pleasure to work with. She's smart, pleasant, professional, and really knows what she's doing. She's familiar with all aspects of kitchen design, and I have appreciated it.

I'd also like to comment on the teamwork that I saw at Wooden Thumb. Kevin was our general contractor; I met with him on my second visit. He too listened to my concerns and ideas and made them happen. I was really quite amazed at the progress. Kevin kept in constant touch with me, letting me know who would be arriving at what time. And everyone showed up at that time. The plumber, carpenter, everyone who worked on the project, seemed professional and conscientious. I knew at every moment what was being done when, and that made my life much easier.

Whenever I mentioned a concern to either Kevin or Patti, I knew that I would get a satisfactory response. For example, I mentioned to them that I also wanted some stone removed from my fireplace wall. Within a few days, they had carpenters on the spot; removing stone and repairing the wall, making it look like new. When I added wood flooring to the project, Patti had a flooring specialist in the condo within days, and that project was also done very well and timely.

In sum, I have been completely satisfied with the project. Compared to the horror stories I hear from family and friends, I can say that my kitchen/fireplace/flooring project was a breeze, even enjoyable. I have recommended you to many others and will continue doing so.

Dear Wooden Thumb,

It has been about four months since we made the final payment of the renovation of our kitchen. In that time, I have thought of you all many times, fondly. Here are some of the reasons:

It is so wonderful to have a bright kitchen and eating area. I am very glad that Kevin convinced me to add the two can lights in the dining area. I am also grateful that the electrician let me have input into the placement of the can lights in the kitchen area. They are working out well.

We are trying to keep the Romanite counters as clear as possible. Because of the better use of space in the newly configured cupboards, there is room to keep things put away. Of course, the occasion of the remodeling was also a good time for me to go through and clear out 34 years worth of "stuff"!

I am enclosing two photos of the sink to show you and the Romanite people one of the things I appreciate most about the small/large sink, model. It is much easier for me to slide a full pot of water across to the stove and not have to lift it out of the sink. I am so grateful that Rick remembered my preference that for that size sink, even though it was not available when we first made the order. In fact, I like the sink so much that on most days I wash dishes twice!

The new laminate floor is also a room-brightener and is very easy to keep clean.

We were very appreciative of the fact that the job really only inconvenienced us for about 3 weeks. All the workers were friendly and polite, efficient and professional. The fact that they cleaned up after each day's work did not seem unusual to us until we compared notes with people who had work done in their homes by others. Everything went very smoothly in spite of the few little snags which were taken care of with dispatch.

Probably the best part of the whole thing was that the final payment was exactly what we had agreed on when we wrote up the contract in December! I will continue to recommend Wooden Thumb to those looking for a contractor. Thanks again!
